Interview and Closing Night
Free admission for Joshue Ott’s closing night interview
Scores is the first solo exhibition of audiovisual artist and software creator Joshue Ott. The exhibition features a series of animated lenticular motion prints:, which are scores made from live improvisations performed with played on superDraw, the artist’s own custom-built audiovisual software instrument with a drawing system at its center.
To create the scores, Ott deconstructs the recording of a live performance into thousands of images, then recombines them in the form of a lenticular print that encodes motion and sound into one physical object. As the viewer moves in relation to the piece, the lenticular lens bends light to reveal subtle shifts: the artwork flickers, morphs, and flows, an impression of the original improvisation.
The exhibition is part of Joshue Ott’s artist residency at Delight Factory, which includes four live performances. After each performance, one new motion print will be generated and exhibited at the following date, alongside a selection of earlier scores. The audience is invited to witness the creation of a new score, each with a theme drawn from Ott's work. The closing night reception will feature a display of all scores, and a presentation on how the works are generated.
