Gaia Sings Lizzy McAlpine

a group of people happily singing and clapping

Part singalong, part jam session. You pick the songs. We all sing and play together. Join us for harmonies galore, collaborative exploration, and a room full of new friends.

Join Gaia Music Collective and Delight Factory as we dive into the incredible musical catalog of Lizzy McAlpine.

As with all Gaia Music Collective events, this gathering centers community, expression, non-judgment, creativity, and collaboration. The proceedings will be lovingly facilitated by Gaia founder Matt Goldstein.

HOW IT WORKS:

The idea is essentially for us to pick some 14 or so of our favorite Lizzy McAlpine tunes, get together, and sing the crap out of them. We’ll have lyrics and chords projected on the wall, instruments to play with, and Matt leading the room as we dive into these delicious tunes.

This jam is meant to be exploratory, experimental, and collaborative. There may be moments where we cover songs as truthfully as possible, or others where we turn songs on their head and explore new grooves or feels. Moments where we learn delicious harmonies and sing all together, and perhaps moments of solo or instrumental interpretation. Who knows where the evening might take us! What we do know is that we’re excited to find out, together.

LET’S PICK SOME SONGS:

We’ve made this document for song suggestions. Suggest songs from Lizzy McAlpine canon that you think would be fun to jam on together, and upvote any songs that you’re excited about! We’ll send out a finalized song list closer to the event.

We are so excited to be collaborating with the amazing folx at Delight Factory! Delight Factory is a Brooklyn-based art gallery and event space for music, dance, soulful exploration and play.

ABOUT GAIA MUSIC COLLECTIVE

Gaia Music Collective is a creative community based in NYC. This project was born out of a desire to create more spaces for people to find expression, connection, growth, & release through collaborative music-making - a place where folks feel safe to make music free of judgment or expectation, and to make new friends as our weird, beautiful, authentic selves.

All are welcome in this community, regardless of age, race, gender, class, religion, sexual orientation, ability, national origin, language, or musical ability. All we ask is that you bring an open mind, a desire to connect, and a willingness to leave judgment of self & others at the door.

Here at Gaia, we believe that music-making - and making that music in community & collaboration with other people - is a fundamental human need, and this project seeks to build space for that in a day and age when it is so often hard to find.

Gaia Music Collective seeks to break down the divisions between performer & audience and craft experiences where we are ALL part of the music-making, while also offering a network & platform for local artists & creatives to connect with other artists, activate their creativity through collaboration, and engage their work with other musical minds.

In short - we're here to sing, to play, to connect, to grow, and to have a good time!
