Drone Lab
+ Open Projector

Every 3rd Friday

A night of collective sound + vision

Join us for an open session of improvised drone, ambient sounds, and live visuals.

Every third Friday, musicians, sound artists, visualists, and drop-in participants are invited to co-create a lush, evolving composition, an immersive environment where audio and visual art intertwine. Visual artists and VJs are invited to share live visuals, abstract videos, and experimental imagery, and everyone is invited to participate with electronic and acoustic instruments, and voice. Each session is unique, shaped by who shows up, and it’s open to all. Part performance, part listening meditation, part creative laboratory, come participate or sink back and enjoy from the cozy lounge.

Bring your gear, your laptop, your instruments—or just your presence.
First-come-first-served sign-up sheet for video; music participation is open.
No setlist. No headliner. Just flow.

There are no intermissions but you’re free to move in and out of the main space. There is a bar area and a back yard with an art installation for breaks and conversations. This is a shoes-off event.

Q&A

I’m bringing gear, what do I need to know?

If your gear is more complex than a simple plug into the mixer, please arrive 15 mins before the event.

Can I plug in my synthesizer or amplified instrument?

Yes. We have five mixer inputs, three of which are stereo, 1/4”, and power supply. If demand is high, we’ll do what we can to make sure everyone gets to play.

Can I bring an instrument?

Yes, or you can use ours. We have a piano, Rhodes, and various hand drums and percussion instruments

Is everyone free to play what they want?

Yes, Drone Lab is an improvisational night with open participation. The intention is for it to be more meditative than cacophonous, so we reserve the right to do volume control.

Is there a drone sound foundation to build on?

Yes, facilitator Bearded Twin will provide the base drone for the night.

How can I project my video art?

We have an HDMI cable hook-up and you can connect wirelessly.

How much time do I have for my video set?

We’ll have a sign-up sheet, each slot is 15-20 mins, depending on demand. If slots aren’t filled, you can do more than one.

Can I just come and watch / listen?

Absolutely! We have bean bags, cushions, hammocks, and chairs for your lounging pleasure.
